Moran shoots off his mouth AGAIN and this time the Weekly Standards Bill Kristol chimes in, read below

Moran to Troops: Your Service Doesn't Matter

The Washington Examiner reports that Virginia congressman Jim Moran (VA-8) was videotaped speaking at an October 6th meeting of the Arlington County Democratic Committee, saying: "What [Republicans] do is find candidates, usually stealth candidates, that haven't been in office, haven't served or performed in any kind of public service. My opponent is typical, frankly."

But as the Examiner points out, Moran's opponent "happens to be Col. Patrick Murray (US Army-Ret.), who served 24 years in uniform, was deployed to four different combat zones, including Baghdad, as part of the 2007 troop surge under Gen. David Petraeus, and was even shot at by foreign combatants."

Jim Moran is well known to be an arrogant, unpleasant, and self-important man. He's been protected from paying any price for his defects of character by having a safely Democratic Northern Virginia seat, one that's heavily populated by federal government workers and others friendly to big government. But for many decent liberals, this comment could be the straw that breaks the back of their willingness to continue voting for Moran.

If Moran's constituents learn about his remarks.

If donors step up, and if GOP leaders and committees and independent groups come forward to support the troops and do a good deed for the country--and if there are therefore resources for TV, radio and mail making Moran's slander as infamous as it deserves to be--then we can look forward to lifting a glass to our troops as we bid farewell on Nov. 2 to Jim Moran.

As a Democrat who believes Jim Moran needs to be fired, I have made a concerted effort to find a candidate who embrases issues that are important to me.

I have tried to embrase Mr. Murray and his campaign, despite his failure to connect with constituent requests for information. He is surely too busy campaigning to find time to respond to constituent questions.

FYI,
I contacted Ron Fisher with a request for the same information, about issues and policies that are important to me, and he responded back (a first in this campaign). His attention to potential constituent concerns and willingness to openly discuss his position has led me to a decision to vote for him in the upcoming election.

Good and effective communication is an essential tool to get peoples attention and precipitate a positive response, in this case votes.

When are you guys going to start using the phrase "Retire Jim Moran - Elect Patrick Murray" in the same sentence, paragraph or even news letter. Moran has enough name recognition and in order to "retire" him, Murray needs all the name recognition help he can get. If you truly want to retire Jim Moran, there is only one way - VOTE FOR PATRICK MURRAY. This race is winnable if we get the Murray name out there.

Here's some light reading as this race starts to get some real attention.

Jim Moran, Who Usually Wins By 30 Or So, Is Up By 13
By Jim Geraghty - NationalReview

Oh, please. All year long I’ve thought it was too much to ask.
An internal poll (R) taken in Virginia’s 8th District (Alexandria, etc.) shows ten-term US Rep. Jim Moran (D) with 45 percent to 32 percent for his Republican opponent, retired Army Col. Patrick Murray. Less than 50 percent is a weak sign for an incumbent, especially this one, deemed a shoo-in by most observers. However, it was a Republican poll.
That may not sound like much, but Virginia’s 8th District is a D+16 district. Jim Moran won in 2008 by a 68 percent to 30 percent margin. Two years earlier, he won 66 percent; 60 percent in 2004 and 2002.
A guy who usually wins by 30 some percent is only up 13.
Okay, now maybe Patrick Murray is my special crazy insane upset pick

I really like the effort you are making with the "retirejimmoran.com" website and yard signs. I agree he has got to go. But has it ever occurred to you that in order to do that maybe you should mention the candidate running to do so, Patrick Murray. Getting rid of Moran is going to take a lot of votes and convincing/educating swinger voters about who the alternative is. Someone has to represent the 8th district and unfortunately Moran isn't going to just retire. Someone has to fill the void and right now the only choice other than Moran is Murray. So spread the word, Retire Jim Moran - VOTE FOR PATRICK MURRAY.
