The biennial 8th District Republican Convention will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024. At the convention, delegates will vote on the following:

  • Chairman of the 8th District Republican Committee
  • 3 Members of the Republican Party of Virginia State Central Committee to represent the 8th District
  • 1 Elector to cast the 8th District’s vote in the Electoral College if the Republican presidential nominee wins Virginia

The deadline to file to run for one of these positions was on February 17th. Filing is now closed.

In order to vote at the convention, you must file to be a delegate with your county/city Republican committee. Details on how to file to vote at the convention will be published here as they are finalized. Please check back frequently for updates.

Statewide Republican Party of Virginia Convention

In addition to the 8th District Convention, all Republicans in the 8th District are eligible and encouraged to attend the 2024 Quadrennial Republican Party of Virginia Convention in Hampton, near Virginia Beach and Newport News. This is the statewide convention to elect the following:

  • Two Electors At Large to be voted for in the presidential election to cast Virginia’s votes in the Electoral College should the Republican nominee win Virginia
  • Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia
  • Virginia’s National Committeeman and National Committeewoman on the Republican National Committee
