It’s a busy week for the GOP in the 8th District! We hope you can make it to some of these great events – there’s something for everyone.
» On Wednesday, Brad Tidwell is kicking off his campaign for the 53rd District House of Delegates race. The 53rd District covers some of the city of Falls Church and extends into Fairfax and Vienna. This is an open seat – incumbent Democrat Jim Scott is retiring – and Brad is a great candidate to win the seat. The kickoff will be held at the home of Bruce Swenson, 311 North Lee Street in Falls Church (map). The kickoff is free. Donations are welcome and sponsorships are available. Thursday is a busy night for our Republican women’s clubs:
» The Colonial Republican Women’s Club is holding a foreign policy meeting focused on the Benghazi attacks on 9/11/2012. The meeting will feature a panel with several notable foreign policy experts:
– David Jackson, executive editor of The Washington Times
– Colonel Patrick Murray, USA (ret.)
– Commander Howie Lind, USN (ret.)
– Christian Robey, Media Research Center
– Rebeccah Heinrichs, Heritage Foundation
The meeting will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday at the Virginia Hills Administrative Center, 6520 Diana Lane in Alexandria (map). All are welcome to attend what will be a very interesting meeting.
» The Commonwealth Republican Women’s Club will hold a dinner meeting at the Royal Restaurant, 730 N. Saint Asaph St. in Alexandria (map), at 6:30 pm on Thursday. Contact information@alexandriacrwc.org for details.
» The Susan B. Anthony List, a national pro-life group, has established a Women for Ken Cuccinelli project and is teaming with Republican women’s clubs around the state. The Women for Ken team will hold an organizational meeting with the Patriot Republican Women’s Club to get folks involved in the effort. The meeting will be held at 7 pm on Thursday at the Chesterbrook Residences conference room, 2030 Westmoreland Street in Falls Church (map). RSVP to amalad53@aol.com.
Come out and support our ticket this weekend:
» The Lee District GOP will be going door-to-door in the Bush Hill precinct of Fairfax County this Saturday for our Cuccinelli-Jackson-Obenshain ticket. Door-to-door canvassing is critical and it’s important that we’re involved early. Meet at 9:30 am Saturday the of Nancy Almasi, 5810 LaVista Drive in Alexandria (map). Wrap up the weekend with some fun in Alexandria:
» Sunday is Alexandria GOP Day at the Alexandria Aces baseball game. The Aces are a summer collegiate baseball team that plays in Alexandria, and discounted tickets are available for Alexandria GOP supporters – $4 for adults, $2 for kids, and free for kids under 6.
