Events to memorialize September 11th
The tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001 is this Sunday. There are many events in the area and at the sites of the attacks to which you can go and pay tribute to those who lost their lives and those who protected our safety.
Here‘s a list of commemoration events in our area. At the Pentagon, the Memorial will be closed at 9:30 am for a private ceremony for the families of those who perished. It will reopen to the public after the ceremony and is open 24 hours a day.
In Shanksville, Pennsylvania, there will be a public dedication of the Flight 93 Memorial on September 10th, and a public tenth anniversary ceremony on September 11th. The Memorial is about a four hour drive from our area. For details, click here.
In New York, the World Trade Center Memorial will be closed on the 11th for a private ceremony for the families of those who perished. The memorial will open to the public for the first time on September 12th. For details, click here.
