Alexandria filing deadline; Arlington meeting
Statewide convention delegate filing forms for residents of the City of Alexandria must be received by April 4, 2012 at 8:00 pm. You can send them to Alexandria Republican City Committee, P.O. Box 245, Alexandria, VA 22313-0245. Postmarks DO NOT govern. Alternatively, you may present completed forms at the Alexandria Republican City Committee meeting held on the evening on Thursday, April 4.
The Arlington County Board will be hosting a Town Hall Forum regarding the proposed Columbia Pike Streetcar project this Wednesday, March 27, from 6:45-9 p.m. at the Kenmore Middle School Auditorium, 200 S. Carlin Springs Road, in Arlington (map). We know many Arlington and other 8th District residents oppose the project and want to make their feelings known to the County Board. The Town Hall Forum may provide an opportunity to do that, depending on whether and how the County Board takes questions from the audience.
There is an Arlington GOP committee meeting also scheduled for Wednesday, March 27. (A coincidence that the County Board scheduled its Town Hall the same night as the regularly-scheduled ACRC meeting? You be the judge…) ACRC Chairman Charles Hokanson has announced that he plans to entertain a motion not to record attendance at the competing Arlington GOP meeting. He also urges anyone who wants to attend the Town Hall instead of the ACRC meeting to do so.
