What you need to know for the convention
The 2013 RPV State Convention is only two weeks away! The convention, which will be held on Saturday, May 17-18, at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond. There will be a lot going on and this will be the place to be if you are a Virginia Republican!
DELEGATE PACKETS: If you are a convention delegate, you should be receiving an e-mail from RPV Chairman Pat Mullins with instructions on how to download the convention delegate packet, which is in PDF format. The packet includes the timeline of the convention, registration forms for the Commonwealth Gala, Convention Breakfast, and guests, as well as forms for sponsorships and convention program ads. It’s not too late to take out an advertisement or to sponsor one of the great events at the convention. If you are a convention delegate and have not received the e-mail about downloading your packet, please contact Mike Ginsberg at va8gopchairman@hotmail.com. Please be sure to include your email address in the text of your email.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL NEED A PHOTO ID TO CHECK IN TO THE CONVENTION. BE SURE TO BRING YOUR PHOTO ID!
SPECIAL EVENTS: FRIDAY NIGHT GALA AND SATURDAY MORNING BREAKFAST: There is still time to sign up for the Gala Dinner on the evening of Friday, May 17, and the Convention Breakfast on the morning of Saturday, May 18. The guest speaker for the Friday night gala will be Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. The speakers for the convention breakfast will be Gov. Bill Haslam of Tennessee, Rep. Bob Goodlate, House Judiciary Committee Chairman, and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. Sponsorship opportunities for both meals, and convention advertisements, are still available as well. Visit the Convention website for more details (click here).
REGISTRATION DETAILS: The convention will officially open on Friday, May 17, at 2 p.m., though votes will not take place until Saturday, May 18. However, if you are coming down on May 17, consider checking in that day instead of Saturday. Registration will be open from 8 am-7 pm on Friday, May 17 and from 7:30 am to the end of the convention on Saturday, May 18. You’ll be able to go right in to the convention hall on Saturday, and it will also help us speed the Saturday registration process.
REMEMBER, YOU WILL NEED A PHOTO ID TO CHECK IN TO THE CONVENTION.
HOSPITALITY SUITES: On Friday night, May 17, after the Commonwealth Gala, there will be hospitality suites sponsored by a number of candidates and organizations. It will be a great way to eat, drink, have a final chance to meet candidates, and socialize with fellow Republicans. You won’t want to miss it.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Volunteers are needed to help staff the convention. Would you be willing to help us put on a great convention? If so, please contact Mike Ginsberg at va8gopchairman@hotmail.com. Volunteering WILL NOT interfere with your ability to vote as a delegate.
