2011 Campaign Volunteer Opportunities

The low amount of attention to the 2011 elections makes volunteers harder to recruit, so your help with any of our campaigns is crucial and much appreciated! Here is a list of volunteer opportunities and points of contact with campaigns in the 8th District (more coming soon). High school students can do their service hours with any of these campaigns or committees.

Alexandria Republican City Committee — The committee needs volunteers on Election Day to work inside or outside the polls, make phone calls to voters, and/or give rides to voters who need one. To get involved, contact Marianne Coates at precincts@alexgop.org or 703-751-8362.

Bill Cooper for Sheriff — To get involved with the campaign, contact Lynne Baldrighi at lbaldrighi@cox.net.

Caren Merrick for Senate — To get involved with the campaign, contact Edward Yap at edward@carenmerrick.com.

Chris Marston for Clerk — The campaign headquarters at 206 North Washington Street in Old Town Alexandria (map) is open for phone banking from 2:00 to 8:00 pm Monday-Friday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturdays, and 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sundays. The campaign does door-to-door canvassing every Saturday from 9:45 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm, and every Sunday from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Fairfax County Republican Commitee — The FCRC headquarters at 4246 Chain Bridge Road in Fairfax (map) is open for volunteers 11:00 am to 9:00 am seven days a week. Feel free to stop in anytime. FCRC will need volunteers especially on Election Day from 8:30 am to 6:45 pm to make calls to identified supporters on Election Day. Feel free to stop in anytime at the headquarters at 4246 Chain Bridge Road in Fairfax (map; park for free at City Hall, 10455 Armstrong Street in Fairfax [map]). George Allen will be in to thank volunteers at 3:00 pm.

Jeff Frederick for Senate — To get involved with the campaign, contact Willie Deutsch at willie@votejeff.com.

Lee District Republican Committee — The committee needs volunteers to hand out sample ballots outside the Franconia Government Center for absentee voting every day through November 5th, and also needs volunteers to hand out sample ballots outside polling places on Election Day. To get involved, contact Susan Valentine at susanvalentine1@verizon.net.

Michelle Nellenbach for Fairfax County School Board — The campaign will be door knocking on Saturday, October 29 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and Sunday, October 30 from 1:00-3:00 pm. They will meet both days at 8601 Lombardy Lane in Alexandria (map).

Miller Baker for Senate — To get involved with the campaign, contact Dan Letovsky at dan@millerbaker.org or 571-455-3055.

Patrick Forrest for Senate — To get involved with the campaign, contact Buck Cram at bcram@forrest2011.com.

Spike Williams for Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman — Join the campaign on Saturday, November 5 for a “chili lit drop” – stop by 9516 Center Street in Vienna (map) anytime between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm to pick up literature to distribute, then join Spike & Julie Williams at their home at 12305 Delevan Drive in Herndon (map) for a chili dinner from 6:00-8:00 pm.
