From the Chairman: One Week Out
The polls open in about 180 hours.
That’s it. Just 7 days left to campaign for our Republican ticket.
We need a United States Senator and a United States Congressman who will fight for economic policies that work — not be a rubber stamp for the President’s failed agenda.
Speaking of the President’s failed agenda, Don Beyer, Democrat candidate for Congress here in the 8th, recently gave President Obama an A- when he was asked to grade his tenure in office.
An “A-“? If Don Beyer was a college professor, students would be lining up to take his class to boost their GPA’s.
Ask the average voter what kind of grade they give the President and all but the most die-hard liberals will give him a lower score. The economic recovery is anemic. Obamacare has failed to live up to its promises. Our foreign policy is in shambles. The list could go on.
We are fortunate to have a candidate who gives voters a real choice in the 8th. If you haven’t seen the latest Washington Post profile about Micah Edmond’s campaign, check it out here. After contacting thousands of voters personally, Micah can tell you that even the 8th District does not give the President an A-.
We have two great candidates to support on the federal ticket.
Ed Gillespie has also made up ground in his race against Mark Warner. Poll after poll shows Warner below 50% — giving Ed the window of opportunity to pull off one of the biggest upsets in Virginia electoral history.
Ed continues to put forward a positive agenda on the economy, on health care, on energy policy. And, he points out that while Senator Warner talks a big bi-partisan game, he votes like every other liberal in the Senate.
Ed and Micah cannot get across the finish line on Tuesday without our help. Every vote will count.
Please take part in the final GOTV door-to-door and phone banking efforts. I have included some contact information below for the campaigns and local GOP units.
As you talk with your fellow Republicans, remind them that they can still vote absentee if they think for any reason they may be out of town or delayed in getting to the polls on election day (in person through Saturday). As we know, one accident on the beltway can ruin an entire evening commute! We cannot leave afford to leave any votes sitting in TRAFFIC.
