Important 2020 Election Events
It’s a presidential election year, and there are conventions and a primary to be held.
2020 8th District Republican Convention
There will be an 8th District Republican Convention to choose a nominee for Congress; elect delegates and alternate delegates to the 2020 Republican National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina; elect three members to the State Central Committee, the governing body of the Republican Party of Virginia; nominate a presidential elector for the Electoral College; elect a Chairman of the 8th District Republican Committee; and conduct any other business that may come before the convention.
The convention is open to all Republicans in the 8th District. The date and location of the convention are TBD. Details on date, location, how to run for one of the offices, and how to register for the convention will be published here as they are finalized. See our 2020 Convention page for more information.
2020 Statewide Convention
There will be a statewide Republican Party of Virginia Convention on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. The statewide convention will instruct Virginia delegates to the 2020 Republican National Convention on voting for the presidential nominee; elect 12 at-large delegates and 12 at-large alternate delegates to the Republican National Convention; nominate two Electors At-Large for the Electoral College; elect a state party chairman to a four-year term; elect a National Committeeman and National Committeewoman to serve a four-year term on the Republican National Committee; and conduct any other business that may come before the convention.

2020 U.S. Senate Primary
Our Republican nominee to challenge Mark Warner will be chosen via statewide primary on Tuesday, June 9th. You can vote at your regular polling place. More details on the primary will be posted here as the date approaches.
Our local counties and cities may hold conventions, mass meetings, or other gatherings. We will publish details of those events as they become available.
