Absentee voting for the primaries is underway

Absentee voting for the August 23 primaries is underway. There are no primaries for most 8th District voters, but because of redistricting, you should check with the State of Virginia here to confirm what district you live in, then go to the Virginia Public Access Project here to see if there are multiple candidates running in your district or locality.

Valid reasons for voting absentee are listed here. If you qualify, you can apply to vote absentee in person at your city or county elections office listed on the second page of this document, or you can fill out and mail that same document to your office of elections.

The deadline to apply to vote absentee by mail is Tuesday, August 16. Mailed absentee ballots must be received by 7:00 pm on the 23rd. The deadline to vote absentee in person is Saturday, August 20. Call your elections office for office hours.
