Absentee primary voting ends Saturday!
CORRECTION: This post initially said that the only primary occurring in the 8th District was the 39th District Senate race. There is also a primary for the 36th District Senate race and the Fairfax County Sheriff race. See below.
The primaries are less than a week away, and absentee voting ends this Saturday, August 20th.
There are three primaries happening within the current boundaries of the 8th District – the 39th District Senate race between Miller Baker and Scott Martin; the 36th District Senate race between Jeff Frederick and Tito Munoz; and the Fairfax County Sheriff race between Bill Cooper and Wes Kammerer.
The 39th District race includes six precincts in the City of Alexandria plus Fairfax County. The 36th District race includes parts of Fairfax County. The Sheriff race includes all voters in Fairfax County.
Because of General Assembly redistricting, you may be included in these primaries, or a different primary altogether. It is very important that you verify what districts you’re in if you don’t already know. You can verify this by going to the Virginia State Board of Elections secure site here.
In person absentee voting is happening now until this Saturday.
If you live in the City of Alexandria and meet the requirements, you can vote absentee at the city’s office of elections at 132 North Royal Street, Suite 100 (map). They will be open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Friday and Saturday.
If you live in Fairfax County and meet the same requirements, you can vote absentee at the county’s office of elections at the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Suite 323, in Fairfax (map). They will be open on Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and on Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
