Senate primary and RPV Convention
From 8th District GOP Chairman Mike Ginsberg:
“As you know, last Tuesday, June 12, the GOP held its primary to nominate its U.S. Senate candidate. The GOP nominated George Allen, who will now move on to take on Tim Kaine in the fall 2012 general election.
Thank you to all of the candidates — George Allen, Jamie Radtke, E.W. Jackson, and Bob Marshall, for being a part of this race. Each brought interesting ideas and approaches to the race, and all of the candidates worked extremely hard and helped build support for the party and its principles through their efforts. We are fortunate to have such a deep bench of talented, principled conservative individuals to run for office, and enthusiastic, involved supporters. Now, it is on to November and the general election. It’s time for us to take back that Senate seat and Make Virginia Red Again!”

A big thank you to everyone who came to Richmond this past weekend to be a part of the 2012 Republican Party of Virginia State Convention. Thousands of Republicans from all over the Commonwealth came to the convention and it was an exciting, eventful gathering.
Congratulations to the 8th District’s Morton Blackwell, who was re-elected as RNC National Committeeman, and Kathy Hayden Terry, who was re-elected as RNC National Committeewoman. Congratulations also to Pat Mullins, who was unopposed and was re-elected as RPV Chairman for a new four-year term.
Thank you also to everyone who attended the Turn Virginia Red Gala with South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and the Victory Breakfast with Sen. Roy Blunt. Both events were successful in raising funds for the 2012 Virginia Victory Program.
A special thank you to the 8th District Representatives on the convention committees: Dena Kozanas on the Resolutions Committee; Jerry Lipson on the Credentials Committee; Ian Meyeroff on the Nominations Committee; and Brian Pandya on the Rules Committee. Each gave a lot of time to serve on these committees to ensure a smoothly-operating convention.
Additional convention news: The RPV State Central Committee met and voted to change the 2013 method of nomination from a primary to a convention. So we will have an RPV state convention next year, with details to be announced. So mark your calendar — sometime next May/June, we will have the 2013 RPV State Convention, and we would love to have a big contingent from the 8th District there!

The Romney campaign has opened an office in Arlington, at 3811 N. Fairfax Drive (map) near the Virginia Square-GMU Metro station and George Mason Law School. The office is on the 7th floor of the building. The office is getting literature, stickers, signs, and other collateral for the campaign. In addition, they are in the process of installing phones to set up a Virginia Victory call center. The call center will be open very soon, and we’ll be sure to make an announcement about that.
